I came in on Sunday for an eyelash removal, and by that evening my eye had become extremely red. By Monday morning, my eye was so swollen that I couldn’t open it. I went to the pharmacy, where I was told that I had an eye infection as well as an allergic reaction. I was also concerned to find out that I hadn’t been given a patch test beforehand. I had no known allergies and had never experienced an allergic reaction like this before, so I had no way of knowing I could react to the products. However, I do feel that a patch test should have been carried out beforehand. I’ve messaged the owner privately about what happened but have had no response, and the message hasn’t even been seen. I’m really disappointed with how this has been handled.

We have reviewed the treatment records and consent information associated with your appointment. Before treatment, the potential risks, including eye irritation, redness, swelling and allergic reactions to adhesives, solutions or products used, were clearly outlined. You were also advised that a patch test was recommended, and you consented to proceed without one. This, along with the consent form and terms and conditions, is documented on Booksy. We were also informed that your eye had been rubbed and that scissors had been used by yourself around the area to cut your own lashes prior to the lash removal service, which may have contributed to the irritation. We cannot determine the cause of the reaction, but this is relevant to the circumstances.We are sorry you feel your concerns were not handled promptly. We take reports of reactions seriously and would have been happy to discuss this directly. However, we have not received the private message referred to in your review. Our records demonstrate that you were advised to have a patch test, informed of the risks of proceeding without one, and consented to proceed.
